  • Check your physical condition, if you have any doubts , consult your doctor first, ask to have your ears, respiratory system and general health checked
  • In the water, any movement costs effort, therefore it is recommended before diving to make some physical training to prepare the body, strengthening legs, glutes and lower back, and if you have the opportunity, practice your swimming with diving fins
  • Cycling or running helps improve lung and aerobic capacity
  • Before diving, check that all the equipment is in optimal conditions
  • If you are going to dive for the first time, it is better to dive in calm, temperate, shallow waters and with good visibility

  • Control the speed during the ascent so that the pressure is gradually regulated avoiding decompression syndrome
  • A guide to ascent, is to go slower than the column of bubbles that is emitted with each exhalation
  • One of the golden rules in diving, is to always stay calm, mainly if there is any problem
  • Eat a low-fat, protein-containing menu a few hours before the dive to give digestion time. Avoid foods that cause acidity such as citrus and diuretics (tea or coffee)
  • Beware of the ears: If they get plugged, cover the nostrils with your fingers and blow at the same time through the nose. This maneuver is known as Vasalva
  • After diving, rest, hydrate and eat a menu that gives you energy
  • Allow at least 24 hours after the last dive, in order to give the body time to eliminate the residual nitrogen naturally
