What is yoga and what is it for?
For some people yoga is a discipline, for others it is a practice that connects body, mind and spirit through some physical positions, effective respiratory handling and meditation, in order to improve overall health conditions.
When this discipline is practiced, one of the goals some people have is to achieve the state of samadhi. What is the state of Samadhi? According to Acharya Shree Yogeesh, a yoga well experienced master, the samadhi is the eighth or latest step of the yoga system, the pinnacle of the spiritual path accomplished after a long time period of practice. This is the highest state of conscience when the person reaches the detachment of the spirit from the body. When the practice intensifies, a new route starts that leads to levels as yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana y Dhyana, until get to the Samadhi, the state where the soul specifically belongs, at this stage the mind does not intervene, either the thoughts or the body. So, to speak, it is a pure and clear state of conscience. |
What are the roots of yoga?
Sanskritof yoga means union, its origin was in India and it is a physical and mental discipline associated with Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism meditation and rejects the divine origins.
What are the benefits of yoga?
How can I start to practice yoga? The power to control the body and the mind is within the reach of children of 4 years old and above as well as for older adults that have had the desire of practicing the asanas or corporal positions and to learn how to breath and meditate. It is recommended to always have a trainer or master to do the meditations and the positions in a right way. It seems easy but it is required discipline to go back to the essence, to live, to thank, to eliminate and to detach from those things that are not fundamentally required in life. |
